My New Favorite Author
If you love to read and enjoy a good book, Check out Charles Martin. My sister told me about his book Chasing Fireflies and I loved it! I just finished Where the River Ends and I was bawling like a baby. Trey thought something was seriously wrong with me but I had to just tell him Mom was reading a sad but really good book. I am so excited because I really enjoy a good book. I just started When Crickets Cry and I can't wait to get into it. I'm crazy because when I find an author I like, I have to read everything they have written. I will have his website link on my sidebar so check it out and read one of his books so we can chat about it! Clink on his picture to go to his website.

Happy Father's Day
For Father's day we went to Logan to visit my dad and Kevin's dad. Since my dad just had surgery I went over to visit with with him and just took Maisey while Kevin watched the other kids at his parent's house. He was doing so much better than the last time I saw him. I am so glad that he is doing good, He's such a trooper. Kevin's parents made steak and shrimp for everyone. We had a good time and the kids had chicken fights on the monkey bars afterwards. It was so funny to watch those kids get so into it(and some of the adults). I am so thankful for the Fathers in my life. My father has taught me so much of love, charity, and compassion. I am also thankful for Kevins dad and everything that he stands for. And last but not least there's Kevin. I won't get into it too much but I have been thinking a lot about how grateful I am for him. I am thankful for all of his sacrifices so that I am able to stay home with the kids. He does so much for the kids and he is so supportive of them. I hope everyone had a good Fathers day. Thank you for all of your great examples of great fathers!

Attack of the birds
We have a very protective mommy and daddy Robin in one of our trees. We have other nests in some of the other trees but these parents do not like you bugging them. Kevin had a hard time mowing the lawn the other day. Every time he would even get close, They would scare him away. It makes it a little hard to mow the lawn. The kids think it is so funny! Sorry about the video being a little noisy. Chewy likes to bark a lot when the birds are flying around.

Update
My dad's surgery went well. He had six bypasses and he found out that he has had three heart attacks in the past instead of the just the one he knew of. I guess you can have a heart attack and you just get really sick to your stomach and throw up a lot. I had no idea that you can have a heart attack and not know. The doctor also put holes in his heart to create new blood vessels. When we got to see him for the first time after the surgery, He was still asleep and looked awful. He had so many tubes in him and I had a hard time seeing my dad like that. I was glad to see him the next day after they had taken out the breathing tube and he looked more like himself. I was so worried that I wasn't going to have my dad anymore. I am so thankful that everything went well. My dad is in good spirits and has had wonderful nurses taking care of him. I went and saw him yesterday and we went for a little walk, We didn't go to far and we had to stop so they could take his blood pressure. He wanted to keep going but the nurse said that's enough for right now. He has to learn to take it easy and let his body heal. I had to laugh because one of the nurses was getting ready to leave and brought in her family tree for my dad to look at. If you know my dad, You know that he is very into genealogy and asks just about everybody what there last name is and where there ancestors came from. I guess this nurse has a lot of her family buried in the same cemetery where a lot of my mothers family is buried in Illinois. Such a small world. He also had a funny nurse who is from Scotland. She told my dad after he got out of the shower and hadn't combed his hair yet that he looked like a startled cockatoo. My dad enjoys good humor even if it his directed at him. I have learned a few things about this experience with my dad. One- is I do have faith even when I don't think I do. I really worried about him and for a couple of day's the what if's kept creeping in. I had to have faith to know that whatever the outcome I needed to be strong and take whatever came my way. Two- Always get a second opinion especially if your doctor practices in Logan and Three- Family means everything. I am so thankful for all the calls and especially the text messages. I am sorry if I didn't get back to everyone but I want you to know that I appreciate you thinking of me and my family at this time and praying for my dad.

surgery
Tomorrow morning my dad will be having open heart surgery. To make a long story short the stints that they put in six months ago after his heart attack are no good and he has been a ticking time bomb for awhile now. I am so thankful that he got a second opinion and they discovered all the other problems that his heart was having. He will be having five or more bypasses. I am nervous and I admit a little scared about the whole thing. My dad is such a great man and I pray that all goes well. His surgery is at 11:00 tomorrow and takes about four to five hours. Kevin's parents are coming down to watch the kids all day so that I can be up there with my mom and sister Stephanie. If you get a chance to read this post, Please say a prayer for my dad.

Lagoon
Yesterday we went to Lagoon for Stake Lagoon Day. It was a blast! It was the perfect day. I was a little worried that it was not going to be good weather since it was raining a little bit when we were driving there. I think everyone was thinking the came thing because there wasn't alot of people there. The kids never had to wait on any of the kid rides. Tarrin is defiantly getting too tall for most of the kid rides but it was nice this year because he would take Maisey on the rides and help her get on and off of them. Kevin talked Tarrin into going on the Rocket and as you can see he wasn't very happy about it.
Later that night he actually said he would go on it again. I think Trey had the most fun. He was full of smiles all day. Maisey's favorite part was riding on the carousel on the little bear. Tarrin had fun going on the big kid rides with his dad. Wyatt is are little scardey cat and we had to talk him into going on most of the rides but he has alot of fun riding on the small rides with his sister. We had a great time and the weather was perfect until about 8:30 when it started pouring. It was so much fun and I am always grateful when we get to spend time together as a family and get to see the kids have so much fun.

Memorial Weekend
Memorial weekend we went up to Kevin's parents cabin. I was thinking I was going to be bored out of my mind but I was very surprised at how nice and relaxing it was. Kevin got a two hour nap one day and I was able to lay around and read most of the time. We had a good time visiting with the family. It was fun to hold my five week old niece and take some pictures of her and also get some landscape shots when the sun was going down. The kids had so much fun with their cousins and we were glad to be up there as a family. The kids had fun catching caterpillars and putting them in a jar(Well, Except Trey who would like to shake the jar and smash them with a stick)We had fun making smores, Tin foil dinners and my favorite dutch oven potatoes and chicken. My favorite is having a big breakfast in the morning with everyone together. Tarrin rode his four wheeler a lot and we even got Wyatt to ride it a little bit.(He's our little scaredy cat)It was a lot of fun and I am always grateful that my kids are able to bond with their grandparents and cousins. Maisey loves to give kisses and she is not stingy when it comes to them. I'm glad Ali and Lyndsey didn't mind because they sure got a lot of them.

Here's Lyndsey eating some snacks. When we are at the cabin we definitely do not eat very nutritious. I think all the kids did was eat junk food(I did too)the whole weekend.
