San Diego

A while back I received an email from my friend Amy stating that she needed a girls weekend and would I be interested. It couldn't have came at a better time. I was a little stressed out with my hectic life and desperately needed a little R&R. I emailed her back to let her know I was in. My friend Tami also emailed her back at about the same time to let her know she was also in. Well it was set we were going to have a girls weekend. I could hear the beach calling my name so we talked about it and decided that San Diego would be a good place to go. We have a high school friend who lives there and she gave us good advice on what places to visit(Thanks Kristi!)Amy and I met up at the airport in San Diego and headed over to get out rental car. They ended up giving us this bright blue P.T. Cruiser. You should have seen Tami's face when we showed up to the airport later to pick her up. The look of embarrassment on her face had me laughing for a long time.
We were so hungry by the time we got the car that we went and got some lunch in Little Italy. We had some pasta and caught up on each other's life's. Afterwards we checked in to our hotel. I guess were a bunch of old mom's cause we hung out there talking and almost falling asleep until we had to go and get Tami from the airport. You can't imagine how relaxing it can be when you don't have anyone to look after and no one demanding your attention. We picked Tami up from the airport and headed over to Old Town where we walked around and looked at all the little shops. We got hungry and went to dinner at Old Town Mexican Cafe. We ended up waiting for about an hour to get in. It was worth it though the food was great and the Mariachi band was hilarious. When we were half way through eating the band started playing. I was so tired and the band was so loud. I don't know if we were so tired or what because Amy and I could not stop laughing at the dumbest things. My ears were ringing and I was just telling Tami and Amy that I wish the band would walk somewhere else when they inched closer to our table. I guess they could tell we were having such a fun time that one of the band players came and stood right by me. I looked at Amy and said "He's really not going to play that right by my ear and sure enough they started playing. I think Tami and Amy were having a lot of fun at my expense. They started playing a song and dancing. It was hilarious at some of the stuff they were doing. Amy got some pretty good video. It was a blast and I was so happy to be there with my friends. Later that night we got in the hot tub and went to bed so we could have energy for the next day.

Saturday we woke up early and went to get some breakfast. Amy found a good place to go on her G.P.S. It's called Original house of pancakes and it was amazing! I got the Swedish pancakes and Amy had the french toast. After we had ate all of our food we tasted Tami's strawberry pancakes and they were to die for! I have never had pancakes like that in my life. I don't even normally like pancakes but these were to die for. Here is a picture of my pancakes that I got the second time that we went there. After breakfast we headed over to Seaport Village. What a cute little place. They had all of these cute little shops and it is so beautiful. We stayed there for awhile and went to get some lunch. Amy and Tami asked some of the local where a great place to get some lunch and they told them The Fish Market Restaurant. We went there and it was so good! I got the fish basket, It came with scallops, shrimp, and some white fish that I don't remember the name. Tami and I of course split a California roll with fresh crab(No imitation here) It was delicious and I can't wait to go back with Kevin. We took a couple of pictures in front of this really neat statue. Kevin later told me the story behind it. After we checked out Seaport Village for a while we headed to the beach. We went to Mission Beach. I couldn't believe how busy it was. We got a great parking spot and took off our shoes and rolled up our pants and enjoyed the scenery. It was way too cold to swim which was a little disappointing but it was such a fun atmosphere that I don't think we minded too much. Amy thought she saw someone drowning but it turned out to be a couple of dolphins. It was awesome to see them out in their own element. We had fun walking around and enjoying all of the sites.
We did some shopping and later stopped by Harbor Village for a short time. We did some downtown shopping for awhile and we were all getting pretty exhausted by this point and headed to a diner that I once saw on the Food Network. It was yummy! I had so much fun on this trip. I am so thankful to Kevin for taking time off of work to be with the kids and taking such good care of them. I know they had so much fun bonding with their daddy. Amy and Tami are such wonderful people and I am glad that we have such strong friendships. We have been through ups and downs with each other and I am so happy that through all of the fourteen years that we have known each other we are still there for each other. I love you guys. I can't wait until next year!
